This article also caused me to reflect on my own journey. I self-published my first book (The Business Startup Checklist and Planning Guide) in 2005. The success I had with that book led to several subsequent books with traditional publishers, speaking engagements, consulting opportunities and lots of media exposure. It is also what inspired me to start Authority Publishing as a way to help other authors launch and promote smart non-fiction books.
