Book reviews are essential because they help sell books. As consumers, we are frequently influenced by reviews in magazines, online, and on Amazon and BN.com. Every author can benefit from seeking out new ways to generate reviews for their books because good reviews help potential readers make the decision to buy!
One of the best and longest running sources for free, unbiased book reviews is Midwest Book Review. Founder Jim Cox has been reviewing books for decades, and his team of book reviewers receives hundreds of books each month. They do their best to review as many as they can, and believe it or not they give priority to independently published titles!
The Midwest Book Review requires two copies of your book, a cover letter, and a press release or media kit. You can find out more on the website here. The site is worth a visit regardless because over the years they have amassed some fantastic resources and articles for authors.

As a new author who opted to go Indie I am a tad overwhelmed with the marketing requirements ahead of me, and, having trawled through many author forums and marketing sites, this site (for me) is a resource standing heads above the crowd. Thank you.

Well that is a wonderful compliment. Thank you kindly, Gray. And remember to view marketing as a marathon, not a race. Right now you’re in training!
Didn’t realize how many resources were available on Midwestern Book Review. Just did a free kindle promo and got over 3000 downloads. Must do more here soon.
CHOCOLATE CHOCOLATE MOONS, a futuristic comedy spoofing food and art is the name of my book. Can’t believe I did not mention it on the last posting.
Thanks for making this information available. I have just opened a small publishing company and our first book is out. I am looking for reviewers.
Really great information! I’m just getting started with promoting my new book, A Call to Magic – the Artful Science of Transforming Self and World. And of course, I’m looking for reviews and PR opportunities, so this is a big help!
